As part of the Utah Media Group Marketing & Agency Team, this position works closely with other communications professionals within the Marketing/Agency Department, as well as with other internal and external customers and audiences. The Graphic Designer should have experience with layout and design, photography and basic knowledge of video production/editing skills a plus. The Graphic Designer should have a strong understanding of brand development and consistency with the capability of solving complex problems through effective design. Able to conceptualize design solutions for a technical environment; has an excellent eye for creative detail and executes quickly. The Graphic Designer is responsible for creating marketing promotional and research pieces, such as fast facts one sheets, house market ads, posters, flyers, and other marketing presentation material to support the circulation and advertising sales staff, both in print and online.


Produce high-quality content for critical revenue departments in communicating and developing marketing materials.

Help guide and execute visual strategy for certain marketing/agency projects. 

Successfully conceive design and or other multimedia projects and work with peers to help launch various campaigns to maximize visual effectiveness.

Lead graphic design related projects including marketing materials sales sheets, advertising for products, posters, flyers, handouts, websites, email, multimedia and other marketing materials as needed.

Consult on key messaging tactics for sales teams, customers, and departments in both visual and written form for presentations.

Design and prepare media kit materials and collect and compile data for printed material included in media kits. 

Help with photography and video on location at events and other relevant projects.

Assist with maintaining internal promotional advertising program including the creation of new and management of placing "house ads" on a regular basis.

Work closely with web developers, printers and marketing/communication personnel.



B.A. in graphics design or multi media field or equivalent experience. 

2-5 years of industry graphics experience,  multimedia and some web knowledge.

Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize competing demands, learn quickly, and work with tight deadlines.

Advanced skills and knowledge with industry standard programs specifically Adobe Creative Cloud.

Well-developed interpersonal and problem solving skills.

A good understanding of typography and visual layout and design a must.

Some knowledge of html/CSS or other related programming is a plus.

Understanding of marketing - including branding, market segmentation, trend analysis, new product potential, optimization and demographic analysis. 

Knowledge of media strategies and other areas typically covered by a marketing degree. 

Excellent communication skills. 

Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. 

Ability to produce advertising for print beginning with marketing and/or merchandising conception through graphic design and/or illustration, etc., including writing ad copy to finished product.
